  • Level 2 is designed for students who have developed a solid foundation in the basics and are ready to deepen their Bharatanatyam training. It is also suitable for students looking to return to Bharatanatyam after an extended break, and/or those wanting to build stamina & technique.
  • This course places a strong emphasis on adavu training. Students will focus on refining technique, precision, coordination, and rhythm while developing the strength, balance, flexibility, and stamina required for classical dance.
  • Classes include repeated adavu practice, short, dynamic movement sequences (jathis), and technique-based exercises that build endurance. Students will also continue developing their understanding of Bharatanatyam terminology, body alignment and technique in a supportive and encouraging environment.
  • Please note: This is a technique-focused training course. Students will not be learning traditional Bharatanatyam repertoire such as Alarippu, Jatiswaram, Shabdam, Varnam, Padam, or advanced abhinaya, nor will they study advanced theory at this level. Instead, the focus is on building the strong technical foundation required before progressing to traditional repertoire and more advanced classical training.
  • **Important note regarding progression to the next level (intermediate- advanced):** Progression beyond Level 2 is based on individual readiness rather than the number of courses completed. Students will continue training in this level until they have developed consistent technique, strength, stamina, rhythm, and confidence across the core adavus.

As every student progresses at a different pace, some may remain in Level 2 for longer than others. This is a normal and important part of Bharatanatyam training, where building a strong technical foundation takes priority over moving quickly through levels.

Your teacher will advise you when you are ready to progress to the next stage of training (Inter-Advanced), where students begin exploring more complex movement combinations, learning traditional repertoire, theory & abhinaya (expressions).
