South Indian Street Beginner – Showcase 2025
Bring out your inner rowdy baby in our South Indian Street dance course, dedicated to the best of Tollywood/Kollywood! Learn a fun kuthu dance routine to trending south cinema music and perform this LIVE on stage for your family & friends. Suitable for all levels, no prior dance experience required. Join us on stage and live out your dance dreams!

- This course is part of Studio J’s annual stage show. Join us on stage and live out your dance dreams with your loved ones cheering you on!!
- You will learn the nuances of Kuthu style dance with a soundtrack featuring the best hits from South Indian cinema
- Gradually learn a complete South Indian dance routine and perform this LIVE on stage!!
- Have fun with a friendly group of beginner adult students
- Learn from the best in the industry – Melbourne’s top South Indian Street choreographer, dancer and teacher
- Get weekly practice videos to support your learning outside of class
- Have access to a private group chat (via WhatsApp), to encourage communication with other students and your teacher
**PLEASE NOTE:**
– Regular attendance throughout this course is required in order to participate in the final stage performance (minimum 6-7 sessions plus dress rehearsal must be attended). Class recordings will be available for independent catch up between classes. If you miss any sessions and have not caught up adequately, then your participation in showcase will be reviewed and may be revoked.
– Showcase will be on Saturday 5 July at Bunjil Place Theatre, Narre Warren. Dress rehearsal is from approx 10 or 11am onwards, with performance from 7pm. Students must keep this entire day available for now – exact timings to be confirmed.
– Unfortunately, there are no refunds, exchanges or credits for any reason.

Ashwini was born in Gujarat, and is of Tamil/Telugu heritage. She has been dancing for over 19 years, with training in a huge range of styles including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Garba, Bhangra, Bollywood, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Ashwini is passionate about dance, as it has brought community, friendship, grace and discipline to her life. An extremely versatile dancer, Ashwini teaches across many of our dance courses, including Garba, Semi-Classical, Bollywood & South Indian Street! Ashwini is also dancer and choreographer for Melbourne’s premiere Bollywood dance group – Sapphire Dance.
