Studio J is thrilled to introduce our first Artist Residency program with Sunil Shanker, a theatre director & actor from Karachi, Pakistan! Sunil graduated from the National Academy of Performing Arts in 2009. Since then he has carved a niche for himself, being voted as the best theatre director in Pakistan several times. His plays have travelled to India and Germany. He is famous for his radical experimental approach and staging risqué productions (Equus,The Goat or Who is Sylvia?). His productions have travelled to Calcutta, Delhi, Mumbai, Munich and Berlin. Sunil also teaches ‘Movement for Actors’ and applies strong physicalities in his productions.
Sunil will conduct a series of 4-hour workshops over a 5 week period at Studio J – “Mind & Body in Theatre”. Suitable for anyone wishing to explore movement, awaken their bodies and experience the magic of theatre.Each workshop will focus on body awareness from the inside out, extending the imagination and character development.
